Born in August of 1981, Andreas Gustafsson started race walking at the age of seven, but has been doing the sport off and on because of his interest in other sports and to complete his schooling. With the support of his wife, Molly, his mother and father, Bo and Lis and his siblings, Andreas decided in the Fall of 2006 to do a serious attempt to make it to the world elite with the Olympics in 2012 as his main goal.
Andreas' current discipline as a professional race walker consists of a 50km race walk at the height of 180cm (5' 11") and the weight of 71kg (156lbs). His interests include surfing, snowboarding, traveling and flying. From 1999 to 2003, Andreas attended Utah Valley University with a degree in Aviation Science and is a Commercial Pilot and a Multi-Engine Flight Instructor.
